Infrastructure Facilities

Aviation Facilities: Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport is an important main airport in China, a tour city airport and an international scheduled flight airport and also a national first-class air port opening to the outside. Both its annual passenger throughput and cargo throughput rank top ten among the airports in the whole country. As of 2015, it has opened 235 airlines, including 32 international airlines; and its international destinations include Tokyo, Osaka, Bangkok, Singapore, Seoul, Pusan and Amsterdam and so on.

Highways: Hangzhou has highways extending in all directions and is the joint of Huhangyong Expressway, Hangning Expressway, Hangjinqu Expressway, Hangqian Expressway and Hanghui Expressway, and the 11 national highways with Hangzhou as the center extending in all directions and the provincial highways constitute the regional modern highway network. So far, it has basically formed the modern highway transportation network with expressways and motorways as the backbone and connected trunk roads and branches, which has complete supporting facilities and functions and can provide convenient transportation services.

Railways: Hangzhou is an important transportation hub in East China, and Hukun Railway, Hangyong Railway and Xuanhang Railway meet here, forming a network with the national railways. Huhang Railway, Hangning Railway, Hangyong Railway and Hangchang Railway will constitute the two-hour railway transportation circle among the main cities in the Yangtze River Delta Region, and the one-city effect among cities will be more prominent. Subways: Hangzhou plans to build 10 subway lines. At present, it has built up and operated Subway Line 1, Southeast Section of Subway Line 2 and the first section of Subway Line 4. Hangzhou Metro Group, cooperating with MTR Corporation Limited, adopted the “subway+ property” comprehensive development model to build an example of excellent subway service in China. The construction of subway lines will promote Hangzhou’s urban development to really enter the “era of Qiantang River” and realize the ideal of “a metropolis, a new paradise”.

Waterways: Hangzhou gives full play to the advantages of inland ports. The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal has connected with the Qiantang River, forming a water transport network connecting all the rivers, lakes and seas in the whole country. As of 2020, Hangzhou Port will accumulatively invest RMB 4.791 billion to build a new generation of Hangzhou Port, realize the throughput of 1 million containers and 80 million cargos in the four harbor districts – Qianjiang Harbor District, Yunhe Harbor District, Xiaoshan Harbor District and Yuhang Harbor District and try to become the domestic inland first-class port.
